Three Pathways to Feeling Financially at Home in Malaysia
From a single orientation session to a full multi-week programme — choose the level of support that fits where you are right now.
Back to HomeOur Approach to Newcomer Financial Orientation
Every Denari programme is built around a simple principle: newcomers do not need abstract financial theory. They need specific, practical knowledge about how money works in their new environment — and they need it in a format that feels welcoming, not overwhelming.
Our Newcomer Passport Framework organises topics in the order people actually encounter them: from the first week (opening accounts, understanding payment methods) through the first six months (managing household budgets, understanding common fees, building savings habits in a new context).
Depending on which programme you choose, you can go through this material in a single focused session, work through it at your own pace with our toolkit, or follow a structured multi-week course with group support.

Getting-Started Workshop
A welcoming half-day session that maps out the financial landscape for people who have recently arrived in Malaysia. We cover the documents you need, the banking options available to newcomers, how common payment systems work, and how to put together a practical starting budget.
The session finishes with a detailed getting-started checklist covering the financial tasks most newcomers complete in their first 90 days — so you leave with a clear action plan, not just general awareness.
- Malaysian banking overview for newcomers
- Key documents and where to get them
- Common payment methods: apps, transfers, cash
- Starting a household budget in a new place
- 90-Day getting-started checklist (printed)
Newcomer Toolkit & Community
A resource and community package for newcomers who want structured self-paced support as they settle in. The toolkit includes orientation guides for key financial topics, a monthly household budget planner adapted to Malaysian living costs, and access to our moderated newcomer community space.
The community space is where participants most often report getting ongoing value — it is a place to ask practical questions as situations arise, and to benefit from the experience of others who arrived before you.
- Printed orientation guides on key financial topics
- Digital versions of all materials
- Monthly household budget planner
- Ongoing access to newcomer community space
- Quarterly materials update
Settling-In Literacy Programme
Our most comprehensive option — a structured multi-session general-education programme covering the full spectrum of everyday money knowledge for newcomers in Malaysia. Sessions are held in small groups over four to six weeks, with printed materials provided at each session.
The programme covers banking, budgeting, utility and bill management, digital payment systems, understanding common financial documents, and building money habits that work in a new environment. Participants who complete all sessions receive a certificate of attendance.
- Multiple facilitated group sessions (4–6 weeks)
- Comprehensive printed materials per session
- Full Newcomer Passport Framework coverage
- Certificate of attendance on completion
- Community access included
